If
you're looking for that paradise island, with white sandy beaches and
blue seas full of exotic fish and corals, then this is for you. Barbados
and Antigua are probably amongst the
better known, but if you truly want to get away from it all, that group
of small islands called the Grenadines,
is a must. Many rich and famous have bought holiday homes here. Mustique
was the favourite holiday destination of Princess Margaret. The island
of Bequia, which is only 7 square
miles, is a lush hilly island with beautiful sandy beaches and crystal
clear waters. Boat trips are available to Mustique, a regular ferry service
operates to St Vincent, and a trip
to Tobago Cays
(a rare tropical paradise) comes highly recommended. Bequia itself has
a turtle sanctuary and working plantation. Water sports on all the islands
are second to none.
Private
holiday accommodation on the smaller islands is rare and with temperatures,
on some of them, that rarely fall below 29° , this is truly
the place to get away from it all.
