Situated
within 15 minutes of Torrevieja,
the very Spanish town of Rojales has still retained its original charm,
with the River Segura passing straight through the middle of the town
centre. Rojales is worth taking time to explore and you can still see
the cave houses, which were once used as dwellings, (now part of a museum).
The old water wheel (La Noria) is situated in the centre of Rojales where
an ancient bridge crosses the Segura River. The Shell House in Rojales
is not to be missed and is a welcome retreat in the heat of the midday
sun. Weekly markets are held in Rojales on a Thursday and parades at Fiesta
times, though smaller than those of Guardamar, are still a fantastic spectacle
to behold.
Situated only about 5 minutes from the La Marquesa Golf Course and about
10 minutes from Golf La Finca at Algorfa, Rojales is an excellent location
for any golfer and there are plenty of other well known courses in the
area to choose from.
